After completing my 4 year bachelors degree and 2 year graduate degree in speech language pathology, I worked as a pediatric speech language pathologist for about 5 years. In my free time, I bake and sell frozen cookie dough and bread dough for my small business! I gained skills in communicating with clients, clients’ families, other therapists, and teachers; as well as taking feedback from clients of speech therapy and customers for my baked goods. After some life changes, I decided it was time to take a different route in my career. I wanted to do something in which I could take my previous skills and apply them to something more concrete with visible change on a more frequent basis. With research through google searches and speaking with my personal network, UX/UI design seemed to be the perfect match- I could use my communication, evaluative, problem solving and research skills from being a speech language pathologist in a whole new light. 

UX/UI design intrigues me because I never knew the amount of systematic organization, planning and communication that was involved in designing a website or app. I want to work for a company with an in house design team, in which I can use my previous skills to work with a team of designers, product managers and software engineers to create designs, websites, and apps that have a beautiful and coherent flow that is easy and pleasant for users to navigate. I will use my skills to help design flows that are communicating efficiently with users without users being consciously aware of it!
